    Dosage:

    - Initial dosage of 40 - 80 mg / day, if necessary the dose can be increased to 320 mg / day. - Doses more than 160 mg / day, should be given in divided doses.

    Warning and Precautions:

    - Gliclazide should be used with caution in patients with impairment of renal and hepatic function. - Frequent blood control is needed

    Adverse events:

Usually mild; gastrointestinal disorders (pain, nausea, diarrhea, constipation), skin rash, dizziness and headaches.

    Drugs Interaction:

    - Aspirin, phenylbutazone, clofibrate, sulfonamides, coumarin anticoagulants and MAO inhibitors displace Gliclazide from its protein binding. Therefore, they increase the hypoglycaemic effect of Gliclazide. - Rifampicin, barbiturates and alcohol induce hepatic enzymes. Thiazide diuretics, diazoxide, glucocorticoids, estrogen and sympathomimetic agents inhibit release of insulin. Therefore, they tend to oppose Gliclazide action as hypoglycaemic agent.
